Hi!

Sorry if this question appears newbiest, but please try to help me. I
am curious to know how i can setup a domain name www.mydomain.com so
that anyone entering it in a browser can be redirected to a static ip
adress 67.x.x.x ? I am using Mandrake and also have access to FreeBSD.
If you don't want to answer here, please post some links where any
tutorial is available in this matter.
thanks,
Craig

I use www.redirection.net.

I'm registered with them, and it's pretty nice. I think it's like $5/year.

There's a little web form you fill out with your IP, and everything
addressed to www.mydomain.com is sent to your IP, so you can host your own
web site.

They also have email forwarding, so you can set up the email address
(E-Mail Removed) to forward to (E-Mail Removed). Really nice for if
you ever change ISPs. Your email address stays the same!!

HTH.

Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. That will just be a completely
unintentional side effect.

But isn't there a way to setup your own servers? I mean how do people
generally host their own websites without using third party services?
