I work remotely and have been using Terminal Services / Remote Desktop.
Company is installing new manufacturing software and I need to access
through VPN. Corp network has Symantec 360R firewall/VPN box between network
and internet. I have installed Symantec VPN client on my laptop and I am
able to connect to 360R.

My question now is how to logon to domain after VPN connection is made.

Thanks,

Bernie.

You can't. You have already logged on to your local machine before you
made the connection. (The Microsoft client does have an option to log in to
a domain over a remote connection). But you should be able to still use
TS/Remote Desktop over the VPN connection.

Bernie,
If you have the option with the vpn software you might be able to add it as
a logon with remote access. That way it will connect with your VPN software
first and authenticate you against the VPN prior to requesting domain
authentication, just like you would do with the old remote dial option.
For instance, with the Cisco VPN client you can go to Options and pick
Windows Logon Properties and you can check "Enable start before logon"
which effectively builds out the VPN session before doing the Windows
Authentication process.
I don't have personal experience with the Symantec VPN client but I would be
surprised if they didn't offer that as an option.

Regards,
Ed
