I have a small network with one Server (AD/DNS/DHCP) and a DLink Router
connected to a cable modem. The network worked fine, workstations received
addresses and was able to surf . I tried to configure the server as a VPN
server also to connect across the WAN link. As soon as the VPN server was
setup, the workstaions could not obtain an address so it could not
communicate. What could be blocking the DHCP?

If you install and configure RRAS with the wizard and select the VPN Server
role, you create a server that functions as a VPN Server only as it creates
filters that block everything else. The easiest fix is to select "Disable
Routing and Remote Access", then "Configure and Enable Routing and Remote
Access" selecting the "Manually Configure your Server" option. This
creates the ports for a VPN Server without adding all of the filters.
