I ran across an HOW TO one time that told how to find out what domain
controller was actually autenticating a user....I believe it was a registry
entry at the workstation.....can anyone help me out? I am have 4 domain
controllers that handle logins. I want to know for a particular
workstation, what server authenticated them.

Thanks!

Run a command shell, enter -

set lo

... or ...

echo %LOGONSERVER%

May I ask what you're trying to achieve by forcing the use of a
particular DC?

I have one remote site...and they are kind of sluggish in getting to their
user directories......for some reason or another, about 4 people at the 25
people site are authenticating to a server that is NOT located at their
site. I was going to try to force them to authenticate to that server that
is located at their site to see if that helps. Seems to be the only
commonality among those 4 compared to the other 25.....

I thought I read about a year ago....about a registry entry to force a login
to a particular server.....maybe not.....

This should be occurring automatically. If it isn't, it is indicative of a
configuration issue in the site/subnet definition or a an issue with the local
domain controller. I would start off by determining if the clients and the DC
all really think they are in the same site with nltest.
