Domain authentication

Good day,

I built a Windows 2000 server on a Dell PowerEdge 600SC and it serves as a
domain controller and FTP server. It takes at least several minutes for
users to authenticate with their domain login using Windows XP.

The issue most likely resides with security. Can anyone shed any light on
the cause of such slow authentication?

Hi,

It sounds like your XP clients are pointing to an ISP DNS server. Make sure
the clients are pointing to the Windows 2000 Server for DNS. The DC should
be running DNS and host the SRV records for the domain.
