In theory it should work but I am skeptical as to how well it would do. You
might be better of creating "Sites" in Active Directory and placing a DC at
the remote site [physically] and also in the AD Site. AD will manage the
replication over the slow link via the Sites Object in AD. The users would
then log in at the DC in their location.
This would also allow the network to be survivable if the VPN was down for a
period of time.
