Hi,
This is the situation:
1 domain that is currently online. Win2K DC running DNS-veritas
backup-dhcp-mailserver. Range 192.168.206.x/24
They bought new company, nextdoor. We start from scratch, with new domain.
WinSBS2003 DC running DHCP-DNS aswell.
They want veritas backup from site 1 to backup all data from 1 & 2. A
networkcable between 2 buildings is possible, already there, not connected.
(30m length).
I can put trust between domains, but afraid clients from site1 will get ip
from server site 2 and visa versa.
What is the best sollution to interconnect 2 sites so server 1 2K can backup
data from server 2 sbs?
(thought about 2nd nic in both servers and make seperate network between
them?)

One addendum:
I know SBS2003 doesn't allow to make trusts. I know the SBS2003 server has
to be the root of the forest...

Thanks for the advice !

Hi

I'm not sure that I understand you correctly but, in this situation the best
would be if you can make a backup on sbs using the Console backup utility to
a shared folder. Then on site 1 just backu the info on that shared folder.

I hop that helps

Ok, true; you have it right, but:
Give me a way to make the shared folder from sbs visible on 2KSERVER?

Hi

If you share the Folder on Sbs you can't see it on the other Domain?
Generally you only be prompted for username and password if the share isn't
set up for everyone group. However you can set up thst share for everyone
group and configure the backup so that only the admins are allowed to open
it. You can also place a $ after the share name to hide it, so that share
can't be visible on network.

Are you using SBS Premium Edition with ISA Server?
Are you in Different Subnet?

If this is true you must configure the isa server to allow the different
subnet to have access to the ISA server, and Config Wins. Or you can VPN in
to it.
