I'd like to know as well, or more to the point is there any ISP that does?
Besides Clara who are supposed to have complete binaries group coverage
except that the service is very flaky with much incomplete.

Pipex. Since they contracted their Usenet out to Giganews (a few months
back) the service has been superb. 50 Days retention, and 99+% completion
on the binary groups I use. The service is throttled back to 25k/s, but
you're allowed up to two concurrent connections. There's an allowance of
10Gb per month and if needed, an extra 5Gb can be purchased for 2GBP.

This is part of their standard ADSL home package.

I know one thing, a new group was created a couple of months ago on a
topic I am particularly interested in (alt.satellite.gps.garmin) and it
still isn't available on their servers, despite several emails asking them
to add it. I can access it via Google Groups but that isn't the point.

I think that if you want a top class binary server then you've really got to
subscribe to a specialist news server. Plus Net have a news server but it's
virtually useless for binaries at the moment, so even though PlusNet are my
ISP I also subscribe to Newshosting's unlimited download account
http://www.newshosting.com/ which costs $83.70 for six months. Taking into
account the exchange rate £/$ it's a good deal.
Another US news provider Titan provide some 'all at once' accounts such as
100 GB for $47.50 which can be used at any time http://www.titannews.com
--- (Titan news servers point at the Newshosting servers)

Bearing in mind what can be downloaded from the Usenet, paying for a good
news server is cheap.

They only have 36,000 (approx) groups in total, retention on binaries
varies from group to group, some are good, some aint, some stuff is also
filtered, however their news server is VERY reliable and quick, ive only
ever seen it go down good and proper once in 3 years.

Thanks for that, Clara say they have done some alterations to their server
yesterday which should improve things but, if not, Pipex here I come!

Very average - not that many groups and I don't recall an occassion that I
didn't need PARS to recover incompletes with Wanadoo. The service was more
consistent than PlusNet, though. PlusNet have loads more binary groups, but
veer wildly between perfect and unusable.

Just send an email to your ISP requesting they add the NG to their newsfeed.
