Of course, it is strongly suggested. Perhaps a NAT device like a Linksys
router would be a good solution in your case. It may not have a firewall,
but at least the only ports open will be the ones you manually open, so if
you do get infected with a trojan horse or something similar, a remote
hacker shouldn't be able to connect
