Who does my colleagues broadband?

A colleague has joined from another company who organised his broadband
connection. My colleague does not know who the broadband ISP is and his
old company have not yet come back with an answer.

Is there a website or someone I can contact to find out which ISP is
supplying broadband?

TIA!

Guy

Do a search on his IP address
( obtainable from the command prompt for a single Box or from his router if
he uses one )

A simple IP check from his computer. Providing its not a leased line
or anything, and they actually connect him to the internet direct, and
not through their network, tell him to go here:

http://whatsmyip.org/

Make note of the IP it returns and then go to:

http://www.db.ripe.net/whois

and enter the IP there. It should bring back the information about the
IP like the company that has registered it and various other bits.
Just enter the name of the company into google to find out if its and
ISP.

If not then he is connecting via some sort of proxy and there is very
little that you can do except to ask the company to give you details.

Why did you employ someone so retarded ?

What's his old company got to do with it ?

How can someone be so dim ? Dumbing down wins as ever.
You could do with smartening up yourself. What age are you and what
position do you hold in your company ?

You're not an MBA are you ?

I can't wait to see if he understood a single word of that.

Nope. His username/password is in his previous router which
his previous company have reused.

BT Broadband were eventually able to tell me who his ISP
was once I could confirm a bunch of my colleagues personal
details while my colleague (not IT literate) was standing
by my desk.

They probably sacked him and want to prevent him from causing a nuisance
or logging in to use the connection or accounts without permission. Maybe
to stop him using contacts or reading emails previously sent.
If the old company had any sense they would have removed the account.
