Gurus,

Does anyone know the size a standard TCP/IP packet which is just simply
performing an "SNMP GET" against a remote host?

The following Wireshark page provides a downloadable SNMP trace file
(b6300a.cap):

http://wiki.wireshark.org/SampleCapt...444443b8d6a9c6

It might provide the insight you are looking for.

It contains several get-requests and get-responses of different lengths
depending on the variable you are GETting.

Best Regards,

It's a trick question: simple SNMP GET requests are done via UDP
not TCP.

But putting that aside: there is no standard size, as the
length of the packet is going to depend upon the length of the OID.
The question also does not specify which SNMP protocol is being used.
And SNMP Community Strings are not fixed size fields.
