Does anybody have a MN-700 that stays connected,
aside from Microsoft ?

I don't. With 3 ethernet connections and a couple of
wireless, I can connect, but cannot stay connected
24/24 or 48/48. I don't know if it is my configuration
or AOL's road runner or myDoom or some software nit-wit
who doesn't know poll communications properly. I think
it is the later.

If someone knows, thanks in advance. If nobody knows
I'm sending this gadget back to Microsoft, and thanks
anyway.

Hey Buddy!
Have you ever watched your CPU records?
- What i`m trying to say that: " Your computer being
overloaded and it looses conection ((and than you get
angry and holding in "Reset button" and sanding all
abuses on Microsoft, isn`t it true?
So, my recomendation is: "Get rid of all softwares as "e-
Mule" or "e-Donkey" or "kaza" ... "winMX" etc... + delete
all of the "spam stuff" in your <programm files> or even
in <Windows> and set your connection as usual, or just
to "Default".
And if you want to have perfect InternetNetworking
connection? ... Pay some e-xtra Bucks$ to the
installation people and you will get what you want.

Here is my 16-en years old recomandation...
Got any problems? call me up (E-Mail Removed)

Yes, I do. As I've posted elsewhere, I'm not seeing the issues a lot of
people are reporting. That's why I ask questions, trying to figure out what
is different. If you're using AOL, then I would suggest you check to make
sure AOL's proprietary TCP/IP stack is compatible with your setup. AOL
doesn't work with all routers/base stations because AOL is not using the
standard protocol.

I've was experinencing the same problem that everyone
else has been posting about. I am using the MN-700 withe
Linksys wireless PCMCIA adapter. However, I did find a
fix on the MS website that suggest you turn off
authentication via "Enable network access controlusing
IEEEE 802.1x" option [http://support.microsoft.com/?
id=814080]. I did have to turn it off for BOTH the wired
& wireless adpater on the laptop. My other laptop has
never experienced the disconnect (Using onboard IBM
wireless adapter). Wonder if it is incompatiability with
certain adapters.

I have had the same problem with the internet connection
dropping constantly. I have been on the phone with
microsoft about a total of 4 hours trying to resolve the
issue. I also tried many of the fixes identified in this
newsgroup, with no success. Finaly I talked to a tech
after getting a case number with Microsoft, that suggested
that there was an incompatability issue between my cable
modem and the MN 700. Talked to a tech at earthlink and
they said there absolutly was no "compatability" problem.
I had a Terayon cable modem. I went ahead and exchanged
that modem out for a surfnet by Motorola and it connected
and stayed connected. I stayed connected as long as I
wanted to last night on all 3 of my computers(2 connected
and 1 wireless, 2 with windows 2000 and 1 with XP.)I would
ask about the compatability issues when trying to trouble
shoot this problem.

I have the motorola modem and my connection drops
religiously. I'm pretty sure it's not a modem
compatibility issue. Just wait... you'll start to lose
your connection again. I'm positive!

I have a mn-700 working as a WAP, a Linksys befsr41 router, a netgear wg511
pcimia adapter and four different computers with wired connections with four
different NIC cards (el cheapo network everywhere, a couple of integrated
and a very nice but old Nic I pulled from a crapped out server. I repair
computers from my house and regularly connect many different computers for
testing/updating.

Computers run win95, win98, win 2000, winxp and a linux box I sometimes use
as a file server.

Never had a disconnect, other than the well known 802.11x authentication
issue (once the first day I had it).

Of course, I am not using the routing function so perhaps therein lies the
problem?

Not sure if I'm lucky or not, but I am pretty pleased with this device,
which has great range (in my house, anyway), and a strong signal.

I have three desktops, four laptops, and one PDA connected at the same time.
Three laptops and the PDA are wireless. We sometimes stream avi files from
a desktop to a wireless laptop (the previous SMC router would fail if the
transferred file was too large).

Whilst I believe the software (particularly client filtering) could be
significantly improved, I've not had strange or frequent drops as has been
otherwise reported here.
