Who do you complain to?

As an existing Sky TV customer, my mother-in-law signed up for their free
broadband package. This was enabled in February, but it still does not work!
I wonder, is this a record for Sky, 4 months?

There have been many, many phone calls, emails, letters. But nobody gives a
toss, or all persons involved are utterly incompetent. The last letter said
"we've reconnected a tie-pair, and it should be all working now". What they
meant was "we're trying to confuse the customer with a technical term, they
won't understand, and we can sit back on out fat arses for a few more months
and do nothing!".

Is there an official body that would take this matter further? What about
ditching Sky and signing up to a more customer-oriented ISP, would that get
a connection?

It's not a lot of help--but you get what you pay for in life!!

Ofcom

Indeed!
So, if they were to upgrade their package, then Sky would come out and sort
the problem. It might be worth a try.

I requested the Max package and after 9 weeks I'm still waiting to be
connected. When I recently rang to cancel part of my TV package as a way
of trying to get them moving, a bod in 'retentions' offered to 'kick
bums' and ring me every week to keep me updated on the progress of them
fixing it. Eight days later and she hasn't rung me yet.

One body you can complain to is Ofcom, but it is unlikely that they
will get it fixed. Still their website has a complaints area for
"Problems with internet access".
I think they write to the ISP and give them a certain time to reply.
Of course the ISP may not reply.

There are ISP's like Zen, who have good customer service and
customer liason, but this comes at a price.
Best with Sky might be a recorded delivery letter, please
cancel the contract and associated Direct Debit, as after
5mths you are in breach of contract, and clearly unable to
provide a service.

It seems that otelo is the ombudsman that should get involved. I'll see what
they have to say.

There is no DD to cancel, it being a free package!
