I have a comcast cable connection and a linksys wireless-G router. I would
like to set up a client server model in my room with access to the internet.

Im just wandering where to find the drivers for DCM325(cable modem) and the
linksys G-router.

Are these even necessary for linux?

such drivers are needed for windows so im assuming linux would require these
too.

thanx

Well, go ahead.

As long as the cable modem is connected to the LinkSys' WAN port,
you shouldn't need any drivers at all, neither for Win, nor for any
other OS possibly hosted on systems within your LAN. The LinkSys is
supposed to watch over the connectivity via your cable modem all by
itself; it doesn't need any interaction with systems on the LAN.

If you have the cable modem connected directly to a system that you use
as a gateway instead of going through the LinkSys first, yes, then you'll
possibly need drivers for the cable modem (or you'll have to figure out
the active settings under Win*, and copy them onto your Linux setup).
But why should you do that? That's what a HW router is made for.
And no, the LinkSys doesn't need _any_ drivers. You simply configure
it via its built-in webserver.

I don't quite get what you're trying to do? Are you trying to share your
connection over the wireless router so anyone can use your cable from a
wireless connection?

Wireless router: I very much doubt it - it SHOULD be a standalone device,
that is effectively just a network hub that has the ability to take
standard ethernet traffic and mirror it out over the wireless protocol.

Cable Modem: maybe, maybe not. If you connect your PC to it using USB -
then unless it's some sort of USB-ethernet connection, then yes - you need
a driver/module for it. If you can connect to your modem using Ethernet,
you're laughing and it's all good!

Drop us a bit more info on what you want to do. It sounds to me very much
like IP Masquerading (i.e. "connection sharing") but I may be wrong...

Cheers
