Well, go ahead.

As long as the cable modem is connected to the LinkSys' WAN port,
you shouldn't need any drivers at all, neither for Win, nor for any
other OS possibly hosted on systems within your LAN. The LinkSys is
supposed to watch over the connectivity via your cable modem all by
itself; it doesn't need any interaction with systems on the LAN.

If you have the cable modem connected directly to a system that you use
as a gateway instead of going through the LinkSys first, yes, then you'll
possibly need drivers for the cable modem (or you'll have to figure out
the active settings under Win*, and copy them onto your Linux setup).
But why should you do that? That's what a HW router is made for.
And no, the LinkSys doesn't need _any_ drivers. You simply configure
it via its built-in webserver.
