Hi,

I have Win98se on this machine and I want to save some News Posts in OE 6
I've saved in Folders (export?) so I can install Win XP and then download
(inport?) the Files into the OE in XP.

Can that be done?

Kevin

Thank you.

I didn't think the other NG's would be correct for this question as it is a
Win98se question about OE.

I guess the OE Group might have been the right place since I there is no
difference between Win98 OE and XP OE from what I gather from your Post.
I wasn't sure if that was the case.

I like my 98 but the problem I have is the desktop won't see the wireless
laptop running XP and the laptop doesn't see the printer on the desktop.

It seems the easy way to go it upgrade it to XP.
I have another Win98se machine but don't intend to change it unless I have
to as I like my DOS.

I have an XP Disk to do this but wanted to save my News Posts to a Disk or
File that I could send to myself on the other computer and burn on CD.
This doesn't have a CD Burner on it.

Many are Posts like yours where there is a lot of good info I pulled from
NG's on how to setup of fix computer problems I'd like to keep.

Thanks again I'll check it out.

Kevin

There is no good reason why your PC's shouldn't see each other if they're
attached to the same network - make sure that both have identical workgroup
names for starters, and turn off any third-party firewall in XP, while
enabling the Windows Firewall. - see if that helps.

There's a good chance that a Win98 machine won't be able to run XP, due to
hardware concerns.... make sure that you run the compatibility tester
first!!!

(It says XP Pro - but it virtually ALL applies to Home as well)

also , you may want to look at "file and settings transfer wizard" for XP...
