Cannot contact Bulldog customer service. When I press option 1, says
lines are busy and then cuts me off.

I'm going to complain to Ofcom and BBC Watchdog about it.
I hope other people complain to Ofcom and WD too.

Yep. They are still suffering from a huge demand for their customer
services.

Seems like the throw money at advertising and get a whole new bunch of
customers but then have trouble dealing with them.

Its been the same with bulldog since they started. victim of their own
success perhaps.

I'm actually having trouble getting hold of them in order to pay them money.

But i've emailed and written them and kept copies so hopefully I won't see a
baliff.

You'd rather be on hold for ages?

Good luck with that; iirc ofcom recommend that if the call won't be answered
in a reasonable time that it is terminated before it costs the customer too
much. Which is what they're doing...

Is your name Patrick? This is exactly the situation a friend at work
(surprisingly enough called Patrick) is in. I just can't see why you'd
want to use a company that you can't actually contact in good time.

When the call costs you nothing, and you need to speak to them yes.

It is possible to riung them 10 seconds after they open their customner
service line, or 5 minutes before they close it, and still get put on
hold, or told they are busy and get cut off. If you get cut off, ring
straight back. You will then get straight into the queue.

And before you say "use someone else".
Upto 4 meg ADSL (shortly to be upgraded to 8meg)
All voice calls including 0845 and 0870.
1 static IP
£44 a month.

I've been lucky. I've just been looking around and have heard people
say that it hard to set up for bulldog. The document they sent me with
username and passwords, etc also has all the silly little setting such
as ppoa over vmux or something well i just followed them my computer
started connecting right away (that was three weeks ago). For a week I
had a connection which stayed on for up to ten minutes if I was lucky
and then disconnected. For two weeks now it's been fine it connects
first time every time and will stay on all day if I want it to.

I have connected at over 8mbs so I am now quite happy. A problem is
though my phone has not rung for over a month if the phone is off the
hook and I dial it from my mobile it rings (should be engaged) so
obviously my home phone number when rung is not getting through to me.
Bulldog say this is invariably because BT have messed up the transfer -
Bulldog customer support have told me quite openly that BT are messing
up the transfer of numbers from their service to Bulldog one girl on
the support line said this is deliberate (!).

I'm not sure what to do now. Bulldog have sent me an email telling me
that I've got to contact BT myself now to sort this out. I haven't a
clue now who's billing me for my phone calls (I can still dial out).

In all I would rate them very highly for their broadband service I'm
sure my telephone problem will be sorted out soon.

It sounds like they (BT) switched your line with someone else's,
possibly during the transfer to enable ADSL. If (as is likely) they
had to run more than one line at the same time through the DSLAM,
mistakes can happen. Bulldog are correct, it's BT's problem.

Also, you are not responsible for other calls made on your line during
this time, make a note of the dates, call BT faults on 151, and tell
them.

I had this happen 5 years ago (before ADSL, but they had a cable fault
and switched our line and someone else's). They fixed it very quickly
and dealt with the billing issues automagically.

It's free anyway Bulldog customer services is on an 0800 number. I
have found that if you don't get through on the support line you can
call the sales line (on which you always get a reply) most times
they've talked to me there. They will transfer you to the support
number though and if they transfer you you will get through after a
wait which never goes over 15 minutes really. I could do with a
speakerphone I get sick of sitting with the phone next to my ear.

Believe it or not the bloke in customer services suggested the best wa
to get any action at all from Bulldog was to go to the offices in Re
Lion Square - I've found them completely incompetent and they are no
saying I'd be better going back to BT as they can't get me onlinbe fo
at least 20 working days and that's no guarantee - been off broadban
now for 6 weeks due to Bulldogs ineptitude!
