I'm setting up a fairly simple 802.11b network. (Famous last words.)
Includes a Netgear MR814v2 router, a Netgear MA111 USB adapter for my
Tivo, and an XP desktop wired to the router.
I also need to connect a laptop that runs Win98. But alas, looks like
all PC cards out there require Win98SE so I'm not going to be able to
use an 802.11b PC card to make the laptop connect wirelessly (comment
here if I'm wrong).
Anyhow, that said, I guess my options are:
1. Upgrade to Windows 98SE (which might create its own problems both
related and unrelated to the networking and I understand is maybe
still dicey wrt compatability).
2. Just use a wireless ethernet bridge to connect the laptop (which
has a 100BaseT card) and the wireless router. Won't be as
compact/slick as the card but will work.
The bridge is probably the easiest option to get the laptop to connect
via wireless, yes?
Many thanks
