Phil,
Thanks for your response and the copy of your stats. It is strang
that I only have up errors whereas your stats, and most of the others
have seen, have only down errors. I wonder whether my router i
reporting errors the wrong way around.
I am not submitting lots of photos or acting as a distribution hub, no
do I have any phone line quality problems. Maybe my connection i
normal and OK for such a long line? The only real problem I have wit
my connection is that I lose synch regularly. I connect for maybe 5 t
10 hours then have a series of dropped connections. This is normally i
I have not used the connection for a while, however, I have never lost
connection during a big download. Therefore, I am wondering if my IS
(TalkTalk) is cutting the connection after an idle period for som
reason. I am also wondering if changing the modem might offer hope fo
improvement.
The reason for my good SNR Margin figures is that my BRAS profile i
set to 15dB to give me reliability. It was set at 6dB for a while an
my speed was higher but reliability was poor. I notice from you
figures that your connection has been up for over 4 days yet you have
low SNR Margin and high attenuation so I imagine that despite the lengt
of your line it is actually very stable.
I also notice from your stats that your up speed is two-thirds of you
down speed. My limited experience and understanding of ADSL is that
would expect a down speed of about five times the up speed. What d
you think? and do you have any thoughts on whether a change o
modem/router might improve my connection times, and maybe reduce m
errors
