How do I get my blinking lights back?

I installed a router to share an internet connection between a Windows Xp
machine and a Windows 98SE machine. On the Windows XP machine task bar, I
can get the two small computer screens with the blinking lights showing that
data is flowing. On the Windows 98 machine, before installing the router, I
used to connect to the internet via dsl using software (Enternet 300)
provided by the ISP and had those blinking lights showing in the task bar.
Now there seems to be no way to get them to show up or turn them on again in
Windows 98SE task bar.. Anyone have any ideas on the matter?

I know it's confusing, but maybe someone out there will understand.!

Sam

Not confusing at all. The "blinking lights" function is not provided by
Windows but by third-party software. When you quit using your DSL software
you lost them. You might try searching google.com or download.com to see if
there's a free program you can load to show them again.

Richard,

You sure about that? I thought those lights were a part of the DUN aspects
of Windows 95/98. In other words, I had those indicators when I had a dial
up account and when I had a standalone dsl account. They disappeared as
soon as I began accessing the internet via my router, presumably because
neither DUN nor a stand alone dsl connection was being employed.

I was not able to find a suitable explanation on a google search.

Yes, I'm sure. DUN == "Dial-Up Networking". If you're not dialing a
connection from your PC, you don't have the "connected" lights. The same is
true of any broadband connection via a network card - no dial, no lights.
