Greetings,

I got a dwl-g122 usb wifi card, the application it came with doesnt have the
option to turn cts/rts on, I got a feeling a lot of collisions are taking
place on this wifi network. I dont see any options under the advanced tab of
my device driver to turn it on either. Isnt there a way for this to be turned
on in the registry?

Much appreciated,
recon

Are you talking about the hardware handshaking lines used in telephony
modems? There is no cts/rts in Ethernet. To detect packet collisions would
require a LAN sniffer/monitor. What is it you're really trying to address?
If your issue is network speed that's about the least likely cause to look
at.

CTS/RTS is clear to send / ready to send a mechanism done to resolve
"near-far" issue when clients cant hear one another (have trouble
communicating) it also resolves collisions because when clients cant hear one
another they dont hear the ACK packets either (which indicate no collision
occured) so yes in a wifi environment u can have collision avoidance.. but it
will add overhead, does anyone know how to enable this option if the driver i
have doesnt show it in the advanced tab? Thank you.

in mine its just called 'rts threshold', maybe your adapter has a different
name for it.. or possibly doesn't impliment it. see if you can enable it on
the access point/router, that might help from one end anyway.
