How do I check if someone's into my network?

What's the easiest way to check whether someone is hacking my wireless
network? My router's software has a facility to display all users
logged on, but it seems to come up blank all the time, even when I know
*I'm* using it. Its 128-bitencrypted, and MAC filtered, so I may be
being paranoid, but I'm getting some slow broadband speeds and frequent
disconnections from my laptop adaptor in particular. Could be a dodgy
adaptor, but when I queried the connection speed with my ISP the tech
guy said there was a lot of traffic going through at the time, and I
wasn't doing anything! I don't think anyone's hacked into my PCs, but I
suspect someone may be piggy backing the ADSL line

Any thoughts?

Temporarily use a wired connection and see if turning off the wireless on
the router makes a difference.

To be honest, I think it is more likely that your PC was doing something
even if you weren't.

Running something like AnalogX NetStat Live will show all traffic to and
from your pc , including anthing from nasties that may have sneaked on.

you could get hold of a copy of PC cillian internet security suite this
perminantly monitors your network for you and tells you when someone is
connected that shoudn't be
