I have a linksys router works well, starting IP is
192.168.1.1. I want to add a tivo to my network with
an IP thats out of range "192.168.0.200" what do I do?

btw, I can't change the tivo's IP

There are a few possibilities that come to mind:

1) Change the linksys and whatever's hooked to it to the 192.168.1.x
range, or

2) change the netmasks to 255.255.254.0 so they're all in the same
subnet, or

3) add a router between the two segments

Geeze, if you can't follow *those* directions, what are the odds you can
manually reconfigure all of your other systems to run around something you
could have corrected in about four minutes?

The Tivo unit was hacked. The ip settings can't be changed by using
the remote and configing the tivo, because their are none to change.
In order for me to change the IP I have to physically remove the HD
from the tivo mount it and change it. I dont want to go thru the
trouble of doing that again.

thanks anyaway

Ah ... that explains it. But can't you telnet in from a PC on
which you've temporarily changed the IP address to be on the
same subnet, change the Tivo, and proceed from there? Or did
you not leave telnet running?
