DNSapi errors on the client (11197)

We are getting 11197 errors in the workstations System event logs.
"The system failed to update and remove host (A) resource records (RRs) for
network adapter with settings:
Adapter Name : {xxxxxxxxxxxx-fake-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx}
Host Name : workstation1
Primary Domain Suffix : [our domain]
DNS server list :
10.0.x.x, 10.0.x.y
Sent update to server : 10.1.1.1
IP Address(es) :
10.0.x.z"

The error message would not be a puzzle except the 10.1.1.1 address

We are using 10.0.x.x IP addresses internally, but never anything close to
10.1.x.x. Where does it get the 10.1.1.1 address?

The similarity is troubling.
