DNS structure

I'm sure this is documented all over, but I'm in a crunch and I'm hoping
someone can give me the correct answer for this.

I know the first DC running DNS needs to have it's NIC pointing to it's own
IP (only) for DNS. My question is, I've added three more DCs running DNS (one
same site other's remote sites). What should the NICs on these other DC point
to for DNS (themselves or the first DC).

Should these other DC's have forwarders to the first DC or none?

Any direction would be appreciated.

thanks
Kevin

What kind of dns zone did you create? if it is AD integrated it will
replicate dns to other dns servers...

I set it up as AD integrated.

I'm also wondering about configuring the Network card. What IPs should I use
under the DNS section for the other DCs?

Thanks.

So would you suggest this config...?

All DCs are also DNS servers (AD integrated)

DC1 (points to DC1 for DNS)
DC2 (points to DC1 for DNS)
DC3 (points to DC1 for DNS)

Thanks.

I have the same sort of setup and I have setup
dc1 points to dc2 first and then itself second
dc2 points to dc1 first, itselft 2nd
etc.
I found that without this config then you would get netlogon errors and
usernv at startup

I will see how this post goes but I found an article pointing me to use this
config. The reason is that ac needs dns to start and netlogon is dependent
on one service which I forget what it was. Anyway, there was a way to
change the dependencies but this fixed most of my errors.

Now I have a new issue and that is netlogon 5805 and 5723, but that started
after the servers were moved to different vlans.

Kevin,

I would set them up like this....

DC1 (Primary DNS-DC1 - Secondary DNS-DC2)
DC2 (Primary DNS-DC2 - Secondary DNS-DC3)
DC3 (Primary DNS-DC3 - Secondary DNS-DC1)

This give you redundancy in that if one server fails the others will always
have an available DNS server.
