Hi all,

Got my broadband working today (major cartwheels) with a couple of problems
eventually resolved with help from both BT and Netgear, but I'm at a loss as
how to configure my w98 PC, which isnt playing ball.

Netgear DG834G wired to Switch and then 3 PC's. The 2 XP PC's are now
connected to the internet and working having been set up with a DNS IP of
"prefered 4.2.2.2" and "alternate 4.2.2.3", which was the missing link
apparently..

Anyhow, in the TCP/IP settings on the W98 PC I am not sure where to feed in
these IP's. Under the DNS tab I have boxes for NAME and DOMAIN, as well as
possibilty for adding IP's.

I've tried adding 4.2.2.2 & 4.2.2.3 with the computers name under HOST
(PENTIUMBOX) and my worksgroup (THEFARM2) name under DOMAIN, but still no
luck in contacting the outside world.

Can anyone help?

TIA

Tim..

I thought the DG834G had 4 Ethernet Ports does this mean you have
another switch wired into one of the Ports?

Do you have DHCP enabled on your router and PC?
Do you have router set to allow more than 2 addresses?
Does your router recognise the MAC address of the NIC on your PC ?On PC
you should be able to find this by typing ipconfig /all at the
command prompt and looking at the "physical address",not sure on your
router but on mine it is available under admin (I initially had a prob
where router did not see this address and hence could not access Internet)
