DNS Resolution Fails

On a Win2k3R2, SP2 machine (Dell 1850), resolution fails. network parameters
are correct (have reserved DHCP.) Booting with a Knoppix disk gives
successful results (same DHCP parameters), eliminating hardware or network
issues. I have replaced network DLLs, reinstalled NIC drivers, both older
and newest versions. Netstat, shows no name resolution, nslookup even fails
to name the DNS server(s) requested. I'm stumped. If you've seen this or an
article discussing it, please share!
thanks
Bill

Did you specify a name server when using nslookup?

Bill,
I have a similar problem with Win XP machines. I found if I manually
specify the DNS servers, name resolution works. If I let DHCP assign the DNS
servers, name resolution fails. Has anyone else seen this? My posts to
other newsgroups have not found any answers.
Thanks,
Joe
