Check that all your workstations point only to the IP of your DNS servers in
their TCP/IP DNS properties (specifically, they should NOT have the IP of
your external DNS server). Check that you have forwarders configured in
your DNS servers and that they only forward to your external DNS IP provided
by your ISP. Check that the TCP/IP properties of your DNS servers point only
to themselves for DNS.

Hello,
For some odd reason two DNS servers which are also Active Directory Domain
Controllers are not resolving external domain names to IP addresses. Both
will resolve internal names. When we restart the DNS service on one server,
it starts working again (for 30-40 mins), then dies again. From a
workstation perspective, the failover to another site is working, so users
aren't noticing a problem, however, the specific two DNS servers are
failing.
What is the best way to address this issue?
Thanks
Rustom
