DNS Forwarders question

SBS 2003 Standard (1 nic)

All users use server for DNS. Forwarders are our ISPs. Almost all web
sites work just fine. Yahoo and a few others will not resolve. On the
server, nslookup fails for www.yahoo.com. If I change nslookup server to
the ISPs DNS, Yahoo resolves just fine?? Any ideas? Hunches?

This ia problem that effects me as well. I get intermittent DNS resolution
while using the windows DNS forwarders to the ISP, but get a much better
service when I point the Internet Nics DNS direct to the ISP rather than back
to the internal DNS and use the forwarders.

I've applied the DNSS0
(http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;828263) patch and
this issue appeared to get worse after this.

Bummer.

How about adding a second DNS entry on the cards. One for internal DNS, one
for the ISP? Will this cause internal DNS issues? i.e. the server doesn't
respond fast enough to an Exchange server request, it moves to ISP DNS...

Hi Fred,

DNS on the servernic(s) should **only** point to the server IP. The ISP DNS
numbers are being put in the tab Forwarders of your DNS server automagically
when CEICW is run.
If those DNS numbers are not working properly, you can try to remove the
forwarders there.

I would disable EDNS0... Check KB828263 and run "dnscmd Server Name/Config
/EnableEDnsProbes 0".

I have also been experiencing this problem for some time now, and I long ago
disabled EDNSO. Very frustrating.
