Hi,
I'm having a very strange problem at my network. I have four site
separated by WAN links. The main site contains one Exchange Server, A
and DNS which the computers connect to download e-mails. All the site
have one DNS Server with integrated AD zones.
Sometimes some computers of the sites which don't have Exchange Serve
can't access the the server and when I ping that, they are not able t
solve the Exchange Server name even with DNS suffix correctl
configured in the network connection. So that the problem b
temporarily solved, its necessary to use the command ipconfi
/registerdns to register manually the connection in DNS. By the way,
can't see logic in have to register the connection, because that is no
necessary so that names contained in the zone DNS can be solved. I'
very thankful if someone can help

Hello,
do you do the /registerdns on the exchange server ?
Do you have activated the scavenge dns to remove old entries ?
Is the dns client service started on the exchange ?

Hi Mathieu CHATEAU,
I need to do /registerdns on clients and scavenge stale records is not
enabled on DNS. The Exchange Server have the DNS client service
started. I can't to ping any computer of the other sites until I use
the ipconfig /registerdns on the clients with problem. I took a look at
the event viewer on the clients and DNS server but nothing is wrong,
remebering that I have DNS server on each site and it's not separated
of the client by a firewall.
Thanks for you reply

Do you find that it works when you have manually entered an ARP entry?

If it was a layer 2 problem, it wouldn't work when he does an ipconfig
/registerdns.

But it may be a dns cache problem instead.

Hi,
I didn't find event log error and nslookup to externals address work
fine. I did see that reverse lookup zones works fine as well. I thin
that is a Forward lookup zone trouble.

Thank
