I can ping any address successfully but cannot get to the
sites????

I have tried releasing and renewing the ipconfig info
repeatedly - it renews the "0 etherenet adapter" but not
the "1 ethernet adapter" even though I specify "all" and I
have disabled the "o etherenet adapter" (it's firewire
which I don't use).

I have checked the system, hardware, networking and
everything appears fine.

I have updated the bios

I have manually added DNS addresses to the adapter. Though
I'm uncertain what they want for "host" and "domain"

What am I missing here? Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Is the '1' Ethernet adapter a NIC, or a modem? Are you a dial-up user, or a
High Speed Internet user? If an HSI, are you behind a router, or directly
connected to the Internet?

Some of the information should be coming from the ISP on a DHCP lease. It
would help to know the answers to my questions.

I'm HSI behind a router. This is a NIC card. I can see
from winipcfg that the 1 ethernet card has the ip address
and dns addresses assigned as you would expect.

This is a notebook by the way. I have recently reimaged
and so I suspect the drivers. But when I place the latest
drivers on the desktop and attempt to update, the message
I get says the drivers in place are more appropriate.

still baffled

I had taken the Laptop to Best buy to re-install the OS.
They had used a "Proxy" address. When I took it back in,
they recognized the problem right away and fixed it.

Thanks for the help!

Yep, a proxy will do it...anyway, I tried.
