I'm trying to get the DNS configured. When I right-click the DNS server name
in the DNS Services page. And then click properties and then click Root
hints, I get a long list of IP addresses. Do I delete these and put in the
local DNS server IP address. What is this list of Root Hints.

Seth,
Thank you for the reply. I have Win Server 2003. The DNS server is for
internal use. I have the forwarder set up to my ISP's DNS servers. So what
do I do with all those IP addresses in the Root Hints list. Do I replace the
list with servers's IP address.

pestocat, I'm not an expert in this field, but I did delete my root hints
once because I thought I didn't need them. Well, it turns out that I did
need them. You might or might not need them, that all depends on your
network setup. Here are a few of the pages that helped me through it. Some
may apply to Windows 2000 Server, but Windows Server 2003 is so similar that
you may also find them helpful.

Read this page first, as it will give you an understanding as to what root
hints are and how they work. Then, if you feel you should delete them, go
onto the MS pages below to do it.

This is RW, pestocat, I just registered at MCNGP.com, so I'm now using this
info.

I hope you found something to suit your needs.
