We are doing support for a new company now, and have had an odd issue
come up, and looking for an easy way to resolve it.

The issue is the server name is express and the domain is
microsoft.com

prior to us getting there the dns address on each pc were 4.2.2.2 and
4.2.2.1 with no group policy set-up or anything. Well they wanted
group policy turned on so we set the dns of each pc to be
10.225.109.190 and 192 which is the ip address of the server 03 box.
We are not running an exchange server or any internal web sites. well
everything works fine except if you try to access a microsoft.com site
it can't find it becuase obviously it is looking internally. Is there
a way to either Forward those look-ups to the outside, or an easy way
to remain the domain without causing huge issues?

thanks

They need to rename their domain or create a new domain and migrate to it.
That was totally stupid for them to use that as the name. Since there is no
Exchange, renaming shouldn't be a big problem.

They also need to use an RFC Private Address range and not 4.?.?.? that was
also totally stupid for them to do.

what are the options if the website we need to forward to does not
have a public static ip? ie it is on a shared hosted server?

hello,

you must use virtual host header in IIS.
You will tell him that this website correspond to www.mywebsite.com
So only http request to this domain will be binded to this virtual IIS site.

How to create a new virtual server or Web site in Internet Information
Services (IIS) 6.0
