I just received a new Dlink 650H PCMCIA card today and it seems
to be working fine, plugged into an old Thinkpad 760XL running
Win98SE and talking to a Linksys wireless/wired router.
The only problem is that I can't seem to implement WEP on the
laptop. The screen in the Wlan Plus Pack software that should
allow me to enter and save the WEP key(s) seems to be missing a
few pushbuttons (or maybe I am!).
Anyway, according to the manual there should be an "Apply"
button as well as a "Reset Keys" button just below the entry
blanks for the WEP keys. The "Apply" button is missing on my
screen. There are two more buttons shown in the manual, "Close"
and "Help" down at the bottom of the screen, but they're too far
down to show on my old laptop's 800 x 600 screen so I can't tell
if they're present or not.
I've tried the version of the software that came on the CD with
the NIC, and also a version downloaded from the DLink site. Both
lack the desired "Apply" capability.
Anyone else had this problem? Found a workaround?
