dlink point to multipoint mode

Hi

Is anyone have more information about the "point to multipoint bridge"
mode used on dlink 900?
Is it a protocol? doew it work on infrastructure or ad hoc mode?
how many points can I connect to a point? does it work ?
is the range in this mode reduced?
