Dlink DWL-G650 conflict with touchpad

I have a dlink dwl-g650 (hardware revision C1) 802.11g wireless network card
for my compaq x1000 laptop using windows xp pro. the card seems to work,
but it causes the synaptics touchpad to respond very slowly. the lag is so
bad, the touchpad is unusable. furthermore, the synaptics program
syntpenh.exe consumes 100% of available cpu when the dwl-g650 is plugged in
dlink tech support is unable to solve the problem. i have tried every
version of the dwl-g650 (rev. c1) drivers, as well as numerous versions of
the synaptics touchpad drivers. i know that the cardbus controller works
because my cardbus firewire adapter works on it. the cardbus controller
is ENE model CB-1410 with the latest driver from MS (1/13/04 ver
5.1.2600.2002).

the only way to stop the lag and cpu consumption is to either disable the
touchpad or to run in safe-mode-with-networking, neither of which are
practical workarounds.

any advice is appreciated.

Are you using the DWL-G650 and Windows XP?
If so, can you tell me what version of the synaptics driver you're using?
Thanks,
Jake
