We run a community wireless group in Darwin, Australia. 99% of our nodes use
dwl-900ap+ acess points in client mode to talk back to the central access
points in infrastructure mode. What we have found is the firmware version
2.5 is by far the best for a stable connection in areas, furthest away. But
for some reason this firmware version has problems in client mode connecting
to ips on the network other than directly connected to the ethernet port on
the other side of the link.
Versions 2.57, 2.57R2 seem to fix this problem accessing ips on the network,
however can often make the link unstable, and increase packet loss in some
circumstances dramatically. At a node installation yesturday the 2.5 version
firmware achieved 500KB/sec to an ftp connected directly to the base AP at
the other end, but could not reach other wireless nodes connected to that
AP.
Upgrading to 2.57, 2.57R2, or 2.57b2 fixed that problem, but the transfer
rate dropped to 20KB/sec, with about 50% packetloss.
Does anyone have any ideas on how we can fix this problem?
Aaron.
