I have one of these routers and have updated from the original ...220
version to the latest ...618 version firmware and kernal. Download
zip file from:
ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/dsl_routers_modems/dsl-g604t/
Disconnect the adsl line before updating. Update the firmware first -
let it reboot - then update the kernal. Let it reboot again. Backup
the configuration to a PC. Then unplug - hold in reset button
(factory reset) for a few seconds whilst inserting power again. Now
re-insert adsl cable. You will probably have to redo the connection 1
settings - new parameters and values. If necessary restore the
configuration from the backup file first if you had already created
sets of rules you want to reuse.
Mine works fine now. No problems with speed or port forwarding.
Port forwarding took some working out - manual is rubbish. Create
your set of user defined rules. Then select an IP from the drop down
list or add a new IP if not seen already. Switch back to 'user' rules
- select your set of rules from those available - click add to apply
the rules to the IP you identified
When all is running go to tools - system commands and save all.
