Yes, I've had exactly the same, twice. (First unit went back due to an
unrelated hardware problem.) I eventually managed to update the firmware
with help from the "D-Link DSL Router Info Dump":

The method I used was
1) Enable SNMP (

2) Update to R2.21.002.06B9UK
(
http://shadow.sentry.org/~trev/adsl/..._v221B9UK.zip). This
contains its own Firmware Update Utility.
3) Update to the latest version using the option on the http interface
which now works.
The second time I tried just 1 and 3 but that didn't work. Possibly
just 2 and 3 will.
