That shouldn't be a problem, and it's been done may times before. You'd
end up plugging the 524 Lan (out) port to the 604 Wan (in) port. In
essence, your 604 would turn into a switch -- albeit one with lots of
extra functions. In this case you could turn off stuff like firewall
and extra things that your 524 would take care of (because it's the one
between the internet and your Lan).

I have a DI-604 router for my home office. I want to add wireless
capability to the house with the DI-524. I'd like to keep my office
hard-wired.

If I buy the DI-524, will I be able to run CAT5 from the wireless
router to my existing router so that the home office pcs can use the
internet?

I'd run the cable modem into the di-524. Then run the di-524 into the
di-604.

Paul;
D-Link has FAQ's for using 2 routers on the same network here is one:
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Connect router to router

To connect a router to an existing router, please follow the steps below:

Step 1 Do NOT use the WAN port on the second router. Use a cross-over
cable and connect for LAN port to LAN port.

Step 2 You will need to change the LAN IP address of the second router
to something other than the default 192.168.0.1 (192.168.0.2 for example).

Step 3 Disable DHCP on the second router. To disable DHCP, go into the
routers configuration > Home > DHCP. Click Disable and then click apply.

Step 4 You computer will not receive a DHCP address from you DHCP
server so you will need to set the IP addresses statically on your
computers.

To view the FAQ on how to set your IP address statically please visit:
