I just got the Dlink DI-524 54Mb G Wireless router.

After disabling Broadcast SSID, both my Broadcom 54G card and my friend's
Dlink 11b card still see the SSID. We can still see it even after we changed
the SSID name in the router. Nor does changing the encryption method (WEP,
WPA, none) help.

Is there something wrong with the router?

Do you see the SSID in the "available networks" or in the "profiles" section
of the site survey? If you successfully disabled SSID broadcast, it should
not show up in "available networks" but it will continue to show up in
"profiles" (or whatever other label is assigned to the list of SSIDs that
have been seen at one time or another). The client does not forget SSIDs it
has seen or connected to in the past.

Sorry if this seems obvious but it caught me out originally. Have you
remembered to restart the router as the new settings do not take effect
until you have done this. There should be a restart option in the menu
somewhere
