DLink AP reports connection established, immed drops?

I was working with a friend's D-Link DI-624 access point and saw some
strange behavior--the DWL-G650 b/g D-Link card would report that it
connected with good signal strength, and then immediately would drop
the connection.

What causes this and how do you debug it?

Also...if WEP is enabled, can anyone lend insight to apparent
connections (both sides report that they're connected) but for some
reason, no IP address gets issued with DHCP, and you can't ping
anything? Where are failed authentications logged? Or what clues can
you use to piece together the aspects of what it takes for a working
connection to really take place?

I witnessed a lot of strange things debugging this one, and never
could get a good pattern or things happening enough to come up with
explanations for why things weren't working. And I'm also not real
damned sure how I fixed it!

Thanks in advance for any general troubleshooting specifics anyone can
give about teh nitty gritty's of how these connections get made from
ap to client.

Best Regards,

I did when it was acting up...and the web server wouldn't respond. It
was as though the ap had locked up. It was very frustrating.

on browser type in ip of router i think default is 192.168.0.1
user Admin, password blank (default). Logs is under "Status" > Logs button
goes through the setup, best turn off all securities and WEP first when
everything working then you can start put all that back on.
other things you can do is upgrade to latest firmware/driver (be sure get
correct one, they have 2 ver of the DI-614 (1 antena, and 2 antena)
