To follow up on an earlier thread:
I had been trying to get a DLink 900AP+ to work as a repeater for a
Netgear 314 wireless router. I knew that DLink did not support this
combination, but I thought it was worth a try. I tried every
configuration possible, but no luck.

The 314 router was on the second floor at the back of the house and
did not cover the front of the first floor very well.
I finally ran a cable from the 314 to the DLink, and positioned the
Dlink on the first floor at the front of the house, set as an access
point. Now the laptops work fine anywhere on the first floor.

There is on minor glitch. It seems that when I move from the back,
where the laptop picks up the Netgear, to the front, where it picks up
the DLink, the laptop tries to "stay attached" to the router upstairs.
If I hotswap the Netgear MR401 wireless card, the signal and transfer
rate to up, so I'm guessing it then "finds" the closer access point.

Just thought I'd pass this information on, in case it is of use to
anyone.

Steve

Its called roaming and it isn't seamless, it has to timeout on access to
one AP, before it can switch over to the next one it is associated with...
