I hope somebody can help me with a problem I have with a 624 router.
Setup Router to cable modem and pc to LAN 1 and have a second pc
connected via wireless using DWL 520+ card. Followed Quick setup guide
and both pc's have access to the internet - no problems at all. But i
am having problems with trying to access one pc from the other. Home
network setup as work group not domain, also have Norton Internet
security running on both pc's. PC connected to via wirless also has
Securemote VPN for access to works server which connects no problem.

Has anybody any tips on how to setup the lan so I can access shared
folders on each of the pc's. I could do this with the original setup
where I used ICS and two DWL 520+ cards to form an AD-Hoc network.
Thought I would add the Dl 624+ so that i could also access the
internet using the wireless connection on my laptop (which also
works!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Ken

Make sure that on the Wireless network IP , advanced, you have
enabled NetBios over TCP/IP - and of course the workgroup name on
both PCs has to be identical (sure you know this)... sharing?
Is it enabled?

assuming you are running xp, try turning off you firewall for a test.
If you can get your sharing going then you may have to change
your network protocol.

Not sure about the Netbios over TCP/IP - will need to check workgroup
name and sharing are all ok.

Thanks for the info. Will advise on findings

Cheers

Using Norton Firewall on both pc's XP firewall is not enabled on
either. Have added IP address to both pc's so that the Norton firewall
will allow connections but still no joy.

Looking at Netbios over TCP/IP as mentioned by another message.

Thanks for the advice.

Cheers

Ken

I am using NWLink Net bios. It lets me share the file and setup the computer
to connect directly to internet.
I was having a similar problem until I installed it.
I could connect to the internet but could not share.
Now I have the sharing and internet connection with the firewalls in place.

Finally had time to sit down and sort through the issue.

Originally had default settings for the netbios over TCP/IP changed
this so that netbios was enabled over TCP/IP and the problem was
sorted.

Thanks for the help
