I have a dlink 614+ router. I seem to have no luck getting the time to set
correctly using the NTP server entry on the Tools-Time menu. Can somebody
tell me what IP address or value to put in this field? When can I expect it
to sync the time? when it's first powered up? some hours later?

thanx,
john

This IP address is from Windows Internet time. It works but I can't tell
*when* it syncs. Fuzzy design!

Here is a listing of public NTP servers http://www.ntp.org , I have the same
question regarding my DI-624 - its too early to tell if its syncing or not
(probably not).

It will sync every hour. Go to your log file and set on Debug Information
and you can see when it syncs.

You'll need to upgrade to at least 2.20.

and

I recommend that you set up a NTP server in your private network and
set the 614+ to access the time from that server.

I found an open source NTP server program "Nettime 2.0" which has
been ported to windows.

I must stress..

DO NOT set up your NTP server to sync with the Public Time servers
more than ONCE in a 24 hour period. I.E. Follow the rules.. Don't
overload/abuse free public resources. (Dlink doesn't follow these
rules).

If you have a static IP address, and a 24x7 server, please share
your NTP server with fellow subscribers/router owners by opening up
TCP&UDP ports 123 and 37.
