DLink 614+ - Problem staying connected

I've got a DLink 614^ wireless router and a dsl modem with one wireless and
one wired computer on the network.

Every once in a while, I experience two problems and so far, I'm not even
sure if they are related but they might be. I'm hoping someone in this
group has had a similar problem and knows a solution.

The first problem is periodically, my dsl modem fails to pick up a renewed
IP address. According to Verizon, they renew IP addresses every 12 hours.
For some reason, some mornings I'll get to my computer and find that I'm not
'connected.' I unplug everything, wait a minute or two, re-plug and restart
and then it's usually fine.

The next problem is intermittently, my network is not 'connected.' I get an
error message (a flyout from my system tray) saying network connection is
"unplugged." I get disconnected from the internet, signed out of MSN
Messenger, etc. Then, I get another message (another flyout) saying that
the local area connection is "plugged."

I looked for tech support at DLink's website and the solution was to make
sure that the mode was set to 10mbs/full duplex (it was) but no further
information.

Looking for any suggestions...

I had a simluar problem (with the flyer thing saying I was unplugged and
just after was replugged).

I solved it by removing the chekbox saying "let windows configure the
wireless network automatically" or whatever it could be called in english
( I have a danish version).

I really didn't change anything, just removed the checkbox....

Can you give me a clue where this setting is located? I can't find it.

Thanks.

right click on the two computers indicating your wireless connection.

There is a menu where there is something like "Show available access
points.."
When selecting this menu, a window will apear, where there is a Avanced
button at the lower left corner.

Pressing this button will open a new windows, where the top has a checkbox.
Try unchecking this one.

I also had the same problem. I unchecked "let windows configure the
wireless network automatically" and installed the latest firmware. So far
that has solved all my problems. Knock on wood.
