DLINK 524 router slows down internet

my network works with DLink DI-524 router and I've spotted that the
router slows down the internet connestions. When I connect computer
directly to modem the speed is great, also the throughput on LAN is
ok. This problem occurs not all the time but with a surges. Thank you
for any hints!
