A device which uses two antennas for the built-in diversity reception mode
is NOT designed to "have two antennas for simultanteous use of the two
antennas for two separate connections."
Rather, diversity reception means that at any given time, one of the two
antennas is likely to have better reception than the other one, and the
receiver then selects that signal for reception at that moment. In other
workds, the built in receiver of the device is always scanning or sampling
the reception available at both antennas and at any moment is selecting
the one with the better signal.
Now, depending upon the location of the places you wish to connect to, and
the type of antenna used, and the signal levels in question, it is
conceivable that you could use the one device to connect to a hot spot and
also use that setup for a point-to-point link. Obviously, not
simultaneously. But there's not a theoretical reason why you can't use
one device for both types of uses. You would need to be much more
specific in your post regarding exactly what type of use you desire to put
the device to.
