Disabling wireless on routers

Hi,

How can I temporarily disable ALL wireless activity from my router? I want
to test for interference with other devices, but even with no wireless
clients connecting to the router I have heard that the router can still be
broadcasting packets?

From what I can gather from other threads, this might work if
a) no clients connected
b) ssid broadcast is turned off

Is this true?
Thanks,
Prashant.

Depending on which router you are using, my guess is there should be a
way to shutdown specific interfaces.

I'm using a Netgear MR314. I can't see anything obvious in the
configuration options - the manual doesn't help much either.

Removing the wireless antenna should be a good start, maybe get
yourself a terminator (commonly available..) and screw that in
where the antenna was is there's still some radio leaking out..

This assumes the transmitter will be ok without a load - using
a terminator (50 ohms with the appropriate mating connector..)
would ensure there is still a load on said transmitter...

This is one good reason to keep the wireless access point
separate from the router and etc - it makes control of it
all a lot easier (then you could just off the ap).
