Hi,

Is it possible to disable the spam protection on Freeserve so it
doesn't attempt to put "***spam***" on the subject of any incoming
spam emails?

Thanks.
Andrew.

This is on a friend's system, and the bloody thing is just tagging
most of the family mail, whilst spam is getting through. All it is
doing is putting a tag on the messages, it doesn't block them, so I
see no point, and it is causing her problems (eg she uses a braille
display, and the spam tag is causing the rest of the subject to go off
the end of the line).

a) ask the ISP ?
b) consider an alternative mail service which doesn't tag ?

I'd actually suggest a domain, of course, so she is independent of any
ISP, but given you can have free POP/SMTP with www.yahoo.co.uk mail, I
think that's one she could consider... Or Fastmail.fm (lots of other
domain names to choose from) using IMAP for incoming mail, unless a
fee is paid (from memory, apologies if it has changed). Peter M.

Thanks for this. Of course I know the alternatives, but wanted to get
Thanks, I know the alternatives, and she had tried to phone the
helpline up, but it got me nowhere fast. I just wondered if anyone
else had done it.

I've had no end of trouble with Freeserve, first they were bouncing anything I
sent to any friends from my gmx account, no they're blocking (without
bouncing) any Freeserve friends that try sending to my gmx account.

To be honest I'm fed up with both FS and gmx at the moment, they're obviously
having some sort of spat with each other, but forgetting all about their users.

Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply (unless you're on
Freeserve)

Can you switch off the anti spam protection on the welcome page of
Wanadoo/Freeserve Email under 'my settings'?
You should then be able to direct all mail to your inbox.
Hope this helps
Anthony
