The grey out is a bug, and he still can reset the router
using the reset button on the back, and then configure it
with IE (or it may work out right away depending on your
ISP's configuration). I don't know how old is your kid, but
technically he could also just bypass the router and
connect to the modem.
The best solution is to take the modem with you, or the
router. If you only want to block access to your computer,
go to Control Panel/User Accounts and set a password for
your account. Or... rename the MBNU, if that's all you want
-- open My Computer, C:, Program Files, Microsoft Boradband
Networking, and rename MSBNUtil into MSBNUtil-hide (in some
systems MSBNUtil appears as MSBNUtil.exe). You may get an
error message during rebooting (can't find MSBNUtil.exe) --
just ignore it. Once you are back, rename the file back,
and everything will work as before.
